Stephanie Moon, Chef Consultant for All Things Food, was born and raised in the North of England.
A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, she trained at Craven College, Skipton where she won a work experience placement at London’s renowned hotel ‘The Dorchester’. There, Stephanie was offered a full time position working for world famous chef Anton Mosimann. During that time she cooked for the Royal State banquet attended by the Queen.
Stephanie was keen to travel and embarked on a four year journey taking her to Switzerland, Germany, Australia and North America, working in some of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants.
It wasn’t all work though, and Stephanie soon became a keen scuba diver during her time in Australia, and kitchen pressures would pale in comparison to coming face-to-face with sharks!
While in Australia, she won a gold medal in the Fine Foods Salon Culinaire competition in Sydney.
In 1995 Stephanie returned to the UK and took on her first head chef’s position at Wood Hall, near Wetherby, Yorkshire. She then moved to Congham Hall in Norfolk, which boasted an amazing herb garden, giving her a wide knowledge of the culinary uses of herbs. While here Stephanie was invited to attend a Buckingham Palace reception for “National Young Achievers” hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
Her next challenge came from Coniston Hotel, Yorkshire, which was a brand new hotel still under construction. The experience of setting up a new kitchen was a fantastic opportunity for Stephanie and the team secured a “Catey” for the hotel (the hospitality version of an Oscar) as Newcomer of the Year .
In 2000 Stephanie was offered the position of Head Chef at The Clocktower Restaurant at Rudding Park, Harrogate, where her culinary and leadership skills propelled her career forward. After twelve months, she became Executive Head Chef, a position she held for eight years until 2009, leading a brigade of 28 chefs over four kitchens.
Ready for a change, Stephanie decided that it was time to embark on the next step of her journey and started her own Chef Consultancy business – All Things Food. From here she has worked with businesses large and small to help realise their potential in all areas of food. She also started working part-time with Leeds City College as a chef tutor; “Giving back to society and helping develop the next generation of chefs is a real honour” says Stephanie, who has helped guide her students to Roux Scholarship finals, Michelin-Starred first jobs, competition success and employment in some of the UK’s best restaurants.
Stephanie is a recognised figure on the Yorkshire food scene and has many accolades to her credit… Yorkshire Life magazine Chef of the Year, Deliciously Yorkshire Champion, and most recently a Bronze medal winner in the National 2010 British Culinary Federation Chef of the Year Competition. As well as being a regular demonstrator at food shows, Stephanie has also made appearances on both radio and television including Channel 5 “Street Market Chefs 2010” WATCH IT HERE and representing the North East on BBC2’s Great British Menu 2011.
